Seeger was a key figure in the popularization of American folk music.

I think that's pretty well known. What I didn't realize until I read his Wiki page is that he is one of many Seeger tendrils in folk music, and music in general.

Seeger is an icon here in the Hudson Valley. Sadly, his impact is aging out. We need more like him..

He was instrumental in the effort to clean up the Hudson River, and the region’s environmental movement generally, beginning in the 1960s. Ahead of his time.
