Second, I'm reminded of your musician friend from years back who had an album or song (or book?) entitled "Refuse to Be Afraid".
Third, the story of that "final form" drum kit is pretty neat. I have a custom electric bass made in Poland from 2000-year-old bog oak (similar to that oak from the Olt River) and it's amazing.
It's a book; I was looking through it just yesterday.
I'm glad you liked that article. I was looking for a good image to link to, but when I read about that wood, I had to link to it. Was the process for creating your bass similar to Peart's with his kit? It boggles my mind to know someone who knows someone who can get their hands on ancient trees.
Nice piece; thank you for linking to it here, Peter.
Apparently ancient "bog oak" is not unknown (albeit perhaps uncommon) in northern Europe. I can tell you that it's a heavy wood because my bass is not a light instrument! Beautiful, though: https://stpeter.im/journal/1731.html
So who directed the video? It doesn't say in the video or the YT description. I love the song (especially the bass line). I don't think I'd put this album in my top 5. It's hard for me to put it up with the 6 albums before it (Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Signals, Grace Under Pressure), but I'd probably put it above the following few.
Its Wiki page states that Devo's Gerald Casale directed it.
It was easy for me to write that *Power Windows* was a top-five Rush album when I was focused primarily on it. Now that you've listed several and I'm thinking of others, it's much more challenging to defend that claim!
Many thoughts!
First, great song.

Fourth, I wrote a semi-related post here a few days ago: https://beautifulwisdom.substack.com/p/thinking-freely

So you get an upper-body workout whenever you play it! It is a beauty.
