If you haven’t, check out the remastered version of their “Stop Making Sense” movie and music. They were the best band of the mid-70s and 80s in my opinion. Love most of their stuff.

I haven't even watched the original versions! 😳 I remember liking everything I heard on the radio, but I didn't have the money during those years to buy albums. Listening to this song for the first time in years, I can easily imagine an alternate universe where Talking Heads becomes my favorite band.

I’ve been thinking the same lately! I saw their videos a lot on MtV and loved them, but never purchased any of their albums. But, they have soooo many great songs! I woke up with This Must Be the Place on my mind one day like a month ago, and have been obsessively listening to them ever since! I asked Alexa to play the song, and she didn’t understand me and said here’s some music by the Talking Heads… and I let it go for hours!! Then the next day just asked Alexa to play the Talking Heads. And now it’s been most days for a whole month and I’m asking myself why I didn’t have a greater appreciation back in the day.

And if you’re feeling especially earthy today, this tune might fit:

Thanks, Al, for sharing that great song.

I didn't want to pause the vid to read all the statistics shared, but one caught my eye (at about 3:05 in the song). It was that 4,000 Finnish women vowed to not have children unless nuclear power was banned in the country. That's probably the losing side of the argument in many countries today.

Yes and considering the stat is 36 years old at least.

I saw the tribute band Pink Talking Phish (Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, and Phish) and it was the Talking Heads songs that grabbed me. Nothing like this band!

I think I started tripping a little just reading that such a tribute band exists, Ellen!

And they're good too!

Kinda' dropped out of all pre-recorded music around the 80's. This is so out of my wheelhouse. Interesting.

You poor man! You missed the 80s groups? That's doing my head in, being a huge fan of 80s hair bands myself, not to mention 90s grunge like Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam. So many musical treats for you still to discover. Exciting!

Yes Ellen, afraid I'm a late 20th century musical reprobate and I might go to Hell for that; it was a price paid for being a purist guitar bum...fortunately I can have LIVE music anytime I want, which according to Neil Young is better, bumper stickers should be issued.

I thought maybe you were in a monastery where they banned everything but hymns and Gregorian chants. Live music is heaven, and bumper stickers should be issued. But 80s and 90s albums can be a piece of heaven too. Jackie's stack is a great place to discover songs you've never heard -- she's always surprising me. And I'd be happy to give you a youtube playlist of some songs to try out and see how you like some 80s and 90s groups (if that's of interest).

More like a celibate monk cloistered on a farmstead, so glad to meet this community. Yes, there is much to learn, and what better way. Try not to overwhelm me.

OK, I'll put something together in the coming days and post somewhere on your stack so you have it and can delete if and when you wish. I'll keep in mind you've been more of an acoustic guy (I'm assuming).
