Her recordings for Modern and Chess in the 1950s and 1960s are some of the most important soul music ever done. The tracks she cut in Muscle Shoals in the late '60s are a revelation.
As an atheist, no praying for me. Instead, I did a lot of thinking, and have taken a few actions that will affect bigger ones in the future. Thanks for your comment, Thea.

I've read about Muscle Shoals ... time to start listening. Thanks, David!
Most of the big shots of '60s soul did sessions there- and in the '70s rock musicians started working there, too.
There’s an excellent documentary on Muscle Shoals. I’d highly recommend it if you haven’t seen it: https://youtu.be/jU09t0smAWI
Etta strikes deep into my heart. Love her music and her story.
Haven't heard this version either but it's a great one. I feel for all USians today.
Thank you, MK. That means a lot to me, and probably others here too.
A fantastic cover by an absolutely incredible singer!
Church, indeed. We all need to pray… and then take action!
