I don't know anything about the band you mentioned, but here's something you may have to accept...

Recommend with a wry smile and wink.

Money and benefits are both important right now. Adjuncting at UD was my best-paying teaching gig, and the students were pretty good, too.

Triumph has a warm spot in my heart. Rik Emmett is a damn good player, and my favorite album is Allied Forces. I had a cassette of that that I wore out before I went digital. Years later I bought that CD, and I still have a few of those songs in my "daily grind" playlist.

Yes he is. I'll add *Allied Forces* to my music shopping list; I have *Rock & Roll Machine*, *Never Surrender*, and *The Sport of Kings*.

Also, look up Saga, another Canadian band

OMG, Saga is amazing! Wind Him Up was a large part of my high school experience.

I know, right? How come they didn't become huge?

They were in Europe and for a couple of years in Canada but yeah, never cracked the US market. Your guess is as good as mine.

I saw them on July 2, 1982, at the Pasadena Rose Bowl (I looked it up). The lineup for the concert was Aldo Nova, then Triumph, then Blue Oyster Cult, then Journey. I was 15 years old and my dad dropped me and my buddy Mark off at the stadium. I was a big fan of all 4 bands, and Triumph were excellent, but BOC was the best performance that day. Eric Bloom riding in on a Harley as the intro to their cover of "Born to Be Wild."

I was at the US Festival as well -- but not the day Triumph played. I don't remember anything about it, really, other than I was there the day The Clash played. I was so far back I couldn't see much of anything. And as a short teenager amongst like 80,000 people it was pretty overwhelming.

Good to see Triumph was inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame.

Thanks for sharing your memories, Steve. Other than Journey, I'd have loved that concert.

Maybe now that the Age of Wenner has passed, Triumph will get the accolades they deserve here in the US, too.

That is an amazing lineup. So jealous.

Well, I can tell you that I didn't see much of Aldo Nova, as during his set, a massive food fight started in the stands and me and my friend were trying to hide under our seats with our jackets over our heads! It was nuts! Then a ton of security showed up before Triumph started and the mood got kind of overly serious. Thankfully, Blue Oyster Cult united us all again by way of Eric Bloom's Harley riding, leather-clad masterful front-manship. I honestly don't recall much about Journey, but saw them again a few years later and it was excellent.

That's crazy and a shame you missed Aldo Nova. I never saw any of them live and I love all except BOC, and that's mainly because I don't know much about BOC. Guessing I'm about to get an education on them.

I’ll share a primer playlist with you!

Sure, I'll add it to the mountains of music I have to listen to!

Triumph!!!! Love this band, love this song. I have the sheet music for The Sport of Kings. You'll be seeing some of their songs showing up on my blog at some point. Still trying to get to see the doc made about them a few years ago. One of my great regrets is never getting to see them live. I figured they'd keep touring and one day I'd be able to afford to see them. Concert fail.

And this will teach me for saving your posts until the weekend!
