I own that movie too! I think it scandalized my kids that I laughed so hard at it the first time I shared it with them. They grokked that it's a sendup, but these are much different times than the 1970s.

Eventually, Gene got the chance to direct movies himself. “The World’s Greatest Lover”, at least, is a very underrated film.

Now that I've had some time to read his Wiki page, I think I'm more intrigued by the first movie he directed: "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother." Wilder, Madeline Kahn, Marty Feldman, and Dom DeLuise!
