By recording the songs of then-largely unknown songwriters and bringing their talents to the mainstream, TDN did a great service to music fans. A band should not be put down simply because their members don't write tunes.
Exactly, David! The Professor of Rock video I linked to plays a few bars of Nilsson's performance of "One"; just that bit shows how much life Three Dog Night infused into the song, making it a number-one hit.
Belated Happy Birthday, Jackie! Thanks for reminding me of this forgotten song. I loved Three Dog Night back in the day. My hubby always kind of poo poos them because they were his high school band in Beverly Hills, ha ha! Their keyboard player and composer Jimmy Greenspoon was born in Los Angeles and raised in Beverly Hills so they went to high school together. But they were super groovy to me.
Totally forgot about this song! I was a big Three Dog Night fan at the time. I remember thinking that if anyone asked me what my favorite group was at the time, I'd say it was them!

I had never heard this so thanks for sharing!

Just delightful
Yes, you're right, hauntingly beautiful. Thank you, Jackie, for reminding me of this lovely bittersweet song.
It's not about April, it's about the feelings in that morning in May. Which is why "pieces" and it's great thanks.
