I found today’s MotD a couple of days ago and had to listen to it immediately. I’ve been returning to it frequently since then, and in the process discovered that the band’s new album dropped yesterday.1 Can’t remember being so excited for new music since Rush’s last studio album came out!
For a while, I considered myself an atheist Buddhist. My first time listening to “In Front of Me Now,” from Nada Surf’s new album Moon Mirror, brought a lot of those memories back to me. Like so many Americans, I seem to bounce between fretting about something past and what-iffing about possible futures. 97% of the time, neither is productive.
“In Front of Me Now” reminded me of the importance of mindfulness in probably the best way possible. The upbeat melody keeps me from tearing up as the lyrics hit tender spots. I’ll be listening to all of Moon Mirror later today and will most likely buy it so that I can dip in whenever the mood strikes. This track’s title is very likely to be my mantra for the foreseeable future.
guilty as charged: I don’t generally look at the notes under the title
I just got the album: I discovered that I had enough Amazon credits to buy the MP3 album for free!
I'll try really hard not to flood this space with Nada Surf over the next several days, promise.
Coincidentally, I’m listening to the album right now. It’s probably been decades since I listened to this band and honestly didn’t really know they were still active until I included ‘Popular’ on my Alphabet Soup series.
I’m only four songs into the album but really enjoying it!
